Iran executes two Islamic State members after the country’s Supreme Court upheld their death sentences, the judiciary has announced. The executions took place on Tuesday, according to Mizan Online, the judiciary’s official news website.

The judiciary identified the men as Mohiyodin Abdollahi and Hossein Palani. It said both belonged to the Islamic State (IS) group and had planned terrorist attacks inside Iran. Consequently, the court convicted them of armed rebellion against the Islamic Republic before approving their execution.

However, officials did not disclose when the pair were arrested or provide details of their trial.
