Nigeria child justice and legal protection initiative

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to Nigeria child justice, promising stronger legal protection and access to justice for children.

Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, made the pledge on Monday at the launch of a pro bono legal service for children.

The initiative, launched by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and UNICEF, aims to improve legal representation for children across Nigeria.

Fagbemi said justice must protect children rather than expose them to further harm. He added that the National Policy on Justice 2025 recognises justice for children as a distinct area.

Meanwhile, outgoing NBA President Afam Osigwe praised UNICEF for supporting child protection.

The NBA-UNICEF partnership, valued at $100,000, will expand access to legal services and strengthen Nigeria child justice nationwide.
