Nepal Flood Death Toll Rises To 469

The death toll from the devastating Nepal flash floods along the border with China has risen to at least 469, as rescue teams continue searching for more than 1,400 people who remain missing.

Nepal Police confirmed the latest figure on Friday, adding that 1,545 people have been rescued from affected areas. Many of those rescued suffered injuries and required medical attention.

China has also reported three deaths, bringing the confirmed death toll from the disaster to 472 across both sides of the border. Authorities are still working to establish the full scale of the tragedy, as the number of missing people remains unclear.

Police spokesman Abi Narayan Kafle said officials may need several more days to determine the actual number of people still unaccounted for.

The disaster has left rescuers facing difficult conditions as they search through thick mud, floodwater and heavy debris. Police said dozens of recovered bodies have yet to be identified because the powerful floodwaters and debris severely damaged many of the victims’ remains.
