Kano APC reconciliation has brought Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations Chairman Abubakar Kabir Bichi together after a political disagreement between the two Kano leaders.
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf brokered the reconciliation during a meeting in Abuja on Wednesday. The meeting lasted about two hours, according to a statement from the Kano State Government.
The two All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders used the meeting to discuss their differences and the need to work together in the interest of the party in Kano.
Reports linked the disagreement to competition for political influence and control of party structures in the state. Their supporters had also exchanged words over the dispute.
Governor Yusuf urged Jibrin, Bichi and their supporters to put aside their differences. He also asked them to stop actions that could deepen divisions within the party.
Yusuf said political disagreements were part of democratic engagement. However, he said such disagreements should not undermine the unity and stability of the APC.
The governor also called on the two leaders and their supporters to work together ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He urged them to support President Bola Tinubu, the Kano State Government and other APC candidates.
Yusuf further appealed to supporters of the two politicians to avoid inflammatory statements, personal attacks and other actions that could worsen the dispute.
The Kano APC reconciliation comes as political activities increase ahead of the 2027 elections.
Following the meeting, Jibrin and Bichi also called on their supporters to avoid actions that could fuel further disagreements.
The two lawmakers reaffirmed their commitment to the APC and thanked Governor Yusuf for intervening in the dispute.
The reconciliation meeting focused on resolving the disagreement through dialogue and strengthening cooperation among APC leaders in Kano.
