Abia Power Restores Electricity After Week-Long Outage

Abia Power has restored electricity to parts of Abia State after more than a week without power.

The outage affected the Aba-Ring Fence Area from July 29 after a gas shortage disrupted operations at Geometric Power Aba Limited.

However, Abia Power said power generation resumed after Heirs Energies repaired damaged equipment at its gas facilities.

The company said it had started restoring electricity gradually through its feeders, depending on available generation capacity.

Aba Power supplies electricity to nine of Abia State’s 17 local government areas.

Meanwhile, Governor Alex Otti has vowed to deploy solar energy to help tackle the state’s persistent electricity challenges.

The development offers relief to residents and businesses that have endured the prolonged blackout.
