Nigerian Army troops have intercepted three suspected terrorists in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State during a joint operation with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
Security expert Zagazola Makama disclosed the operation in a post on X on Saturday.
According to Makama, troops from 73 Battalion and CJTF members intercepted the suspects around the Kayamla general area.
The suspects reportedly claimed they were repentant terrorists undergoing rehabilitation at the Bulumkutu Rehabilitation Centre. They said they had travelled to visit their farms.
However, troops allegedly found two rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition on one suspect. He reportedly tried to escape but was killed during the operation.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army troops arrested the other two suspects for further investigation. They also recovered a bicycle, herbicide bottles and other items.
