Manchester City has won the Deloitte Football Money League for the second year in a row, as the world’s highest revenue-generating club in the 2021-22 season, when COVID-19 restrictions were lifted.

City, owned by Abu Dhabi, earned 731 million euros ($790.65 million), followed by Real Madrid (714 million euros) and Liverpool (702 million euros).

Manchester United earned 689 million euros, while Paris Saint-Germain earned 654 million euros.

Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, West Ham United, Leicester City, Leeds United, Everton, and Newcastle United were all among the top 20 Premier League clubs.

In 2021-22, City set a Premier League record for commercial revenue with 373 million euros, up 65 million euros from the previous season.

Liverpool was the biggest mover and shaker in this year’s Money League, rising four places from seventh to third, their highest-ever position.

Following their run to the 2022 Champions League final, which generated additional broadcast revenue, the Merseyside club surpassed Manchester United in the rankings for the first time.

Liverpool was also one of only five clubs to report over 100 million euros in matchday revenue, a first for the club as fans returned to stadiums.

According to the report, Barcelona and Real Madrid have yet to recover revenue to pre-pandemic levels, with revenues down 203 million euros and 43 million euros, respectively, from 2018-19.

Following the publication of the report, LaLiga issued a statement claiming that it contained “manifestly erroneous data” regarding the league’s television rights revenue.
“The information presented by Deloitte indicating that LaLiga’s income from audio-visual rights has decreased is completely incorrect, and LaLiga has informed the consultancy of this error,” the statement continued.

Barcelona earned the most money, with 7.7 million euros, after reaching the Champions League final in 2022 and winning the competition in 2021.

Manchester United came in second with 6 million euros, followed by City (5.1 million euros), PSG (3.6 million euros), Arsenal (2.2 million euros), and Tottenham Hotspur (2.2 million euros) (2.1 million euros). ($1 = 0.9246 euros)
