The State Executive Council also addressed social issues, urging parents to monitor their children following the repatriation of 13 trafficked children rescued from Anambra State.
In its recent meeting, the Adamawa State Executive Council, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, approved a significant budgetary adjustment to reallocate funds toward strategic priorities for 2025. The approved N22.8 billion virement remains within the 2025 budget envelope of N486.2 billion but enables the government to respond to evolving operational and developmental demands.
The virement dedicates N8 billion to recurrent expenses to ensure ministries can manage rising overhead costs, reflecting financial prudence amid inflationary pressures. Meanwhile, the capital expenditure reallocation of N14.8 billion underpins major infrastructure and social development projects. Foremost among these is the construction of a modern orientation camp for National Youth Service Corps members, reinforcing the state’s commitment to youth development.
Additional capital projects include upgrading the State Amusement Park to enhance recreational facilities and vital roadworks aimed at improving regional connectivity, facilitating trade, and boosting economic activities.
Alongside fiscal updates, the Council reaffirmed its commitment to social welfare. The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development highlighted ongoing efforts to safeguard vulnerable children, urging community vigilance following recent interventions in child trafficking cases.
This comprehensive budget adjustment demonstrates Adamawa State’s focused approach to balancing operational needs with critical investments in infrastructure and social protection for sustainable development.
