Ex-minister says Rivers notorious for rigging, urges early voter registration
Calls on ADC members to resist result falsification ahead of next elections

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has issued a stark warning to Nigerians against voting for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election, claiming the consequences of a second term would be dire.

Amaechi, who addressed members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition in Rivers State, cautioned that a renewed mandate for Tinubu would deepen Nigeria’s economic hardship, stating that “we’ll all be dead and buried” if the current administration continues beyond 2027.

The former Rivers State governor called on ADC supporters to begin immediate voter mobilization and registration as part of a broader effort to reclaim political power through the ballot.

“We are new members of the ADC; it’s the adopted party of the coalition,” Amaechi told the gathering. “Most importantly, have your eyes on 2027. Please go home and start registration. We’ll form a committee that will go from local government to local government, ward to ward, to ascertain the number of people we have.”

He also raised concerns over electoral manipulation in Rivers State, condemning the widespread practice of vote rigging and result fabrication.

“Our state is notorious for writing results, and we must stop them from writing results,” he said. “When they say the results have already been written, it discourages voters. We must encourage people to come out and vote for the removal of the current government—or we will all die of hunger.”

Amaechi’s comments reflect growing political discontent in the face of economic struggles and dwindling public trust in electoral integrity.

His statements mark a significant political realignment, as he campaigns under a new party banner while openly criticizing the administration he once supported.
