The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has firmly rejected claims linking the party to any specific political figure ahead of the 2027 presidential election, insisting that its platform remains open to all aspirants.

Speaking during an appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, dismissed suggestions that the ADC is being positioned as a political vehicle for Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi or any other contender.

Abdullahi stressed that the party has not endorsed any aspirant and will not be pressured into making premature decisions.

“We will not be blackmailed into taking an early position,” he said. “Zoning is under consideration, and discussions are ongoing at a strategic level, but I cannot disclose specifics at this time.”

He reiterated that the ADC is focused on building an inclusive political platform rather than advancing the ambition of any individual.

“Certainly not. People may hold their own views, but I can say categorically that this is no more about Atiku Abubakar than it is about Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, or anyone else interested in contesting under our platform,” Abdullahi added.

The party spokesman noted that internal consultations are still ongoing, including deliberations on zoning arrangements, emphasizing that critical decisions will be made at the appropriate time.

He also called on opposition groups to unite, warning that division within their ranks could hand an advantage to the ruling party and weaken democratic competition as the 2027 elections draw closer.
