-Legendary Industrialist Dies at 94
Aminu Dantata’s Death Marks End of an Era in Nigerian Business History

Renowned Nigerian businessman, statesman, and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, has passed away at the age of 94.

A close family source confirmed that the elder statesman died in the early hours of Friday in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, where he was receiving treatment.

“He died around 3am Nigerian time at a hospital in Abu Dhabi,” the source disclosed, adding that funeral arrangements will be made public soon.

Dantata, born on May 19, 1931, in Kano State, was a towering figure in Nigeria’s business sector, with an influence spanning real estate, manufacturing, oil and gas, and philanthropy.

For decades, he shaped the country’s private sector landscape and remained a respected voice in national development and economic policy. His life was marked by entrepreneurial excellence, quiet generosity, and enduring leadership.

Until his passing, Alhaji Aminu Dantata was the last surviving son of the legendary Alhassan Dantata, one of West Africa’s richest merchants of the 20th century.

He is survived by seven children and numerous grandchildren, including Alhaji Tajuddeen Aminu Dantata, a notable figure in his own right.

The nation mourns the loss of a man widely considered a pillar of Nigeria’s business and philanthropic community.
