The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, has launched an intensified patrol of boarding schools across the state amid rising concerns over security breaches and kidnappings.
Commander of the Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this on Tuesday in Akure while parading 16 suspects arrested for various offences. He said the agency had already mounted full surveillance on schools with boarding facilities, especially those located in border communities and on the outskirts of major towns.
Adeleye explained that the renewed operation followed public outcry over recent security incidents targeting vulnerable communities.
“In the last week, we visited numerous schools and placed surveillance on all boarding facilities, particularly those in border towns,” he said.
The Corps has also strengthened its 24-hour Ember Month patrol, with additional reinforcement at state borders to prevent criminal infiltration.
The border-focused operation, ‘Operation Le Won Jade’, which began on November 6, has reportedly pushed out bandits, kidnappers, and other miscreants hiding in surrounding forests, according to the commander.
Adeleye noted that ongoing patrols within the metropolis continue to yield “tremendous results,” with 34 arrests recorded in the past week, out of which 16 suspects were presented to the media.
He assured residents that security agencies remain committed to safeguarding lives and property across Ondo State.
