A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has declared that the upcoming 2026 governorship elections in Ekiti State and Osun will serve as a decisive test of the party’s strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, the former lawmaker stressed that APC must clinch victories in both states to cement a strategic advantage for the nationwide polls next year.
“A landslide victory for the APC in the Ekiti governorship election slated for June 20 and the Osun governorship poll scheduled for August 15 will solidify our prospects for the 2027 general elections,” Oyintiloye said.
He added that triumphs in these contests would reinforce the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and boost the confidence of party members nationwide.
“The Ekiti and Osun elections are crucial litmus tests for the APC. Success in both will strengthen our influence across Nigeria’s political landscape,” he noted.
Highlighting Osun as a particularly strategic battleground, Oyintiloye emphasized the party’s determination to unseat incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke. He credited collaborative efforts among key party leaders—including national leader Chief Bisi Akande, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola, National Secretary Ajibola Basiru, and state chairman Tajudeen Lawal—for the party’s readiness to secure victory.
Oyintiloye also lauded APC’s governorship candidate in Osun, Bola Oyebamiji, describing him as competent and widely endorsed by party members and residents.
He appealed to aggrieved party members to set aside differences, respect party supremacy, and work collectively to deliver victories in the forthcoming elections.
