The Bayelsa NDC has urged Governor Douye Diri to adopt a more inclusive leadership style and focus on policies that improve the lives of residents across the state.
Speaking in Yenagoa, the Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bayelsa State, Hon. Dauprebo Ikuromo, called on the governor to place development and public welfare above political considerations.
He also accused the state government of attempting to lure NDC aspirants with financial incentives aimed at creating divisions within the party. However, Ikuromo insisted that the Bayelsa NDC remained united and committed to its goal of winning power in the state.
According to him, resources allegedly used for political inducement should instead address pressing challenges, including concerns surrounding gas turbines that have been commissioned but remain non-operational.
Meanwhile, Ikuromo dismissed reports of internal discontent within the party. He said the NDC had established a grievance resolution mechanism under the leadership of Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.
He further stated that the party’s National Executive Council would release the list of candidates for various positions within the timetable approved by INEC.
In addition, the Bayelsa NDC chairman praised Senator Dickson for overseeing the party’s primary elections. He said the former governor managed the process fairly and ensured equal opportunities for aspirants nationwide.
Ikuromo also commended efforts to increase the participation of young people and women in the primaries, describing the move as essential for building a stronger and more inclusive political party.
He urged party members and supporters across Bayelsa State to remain united as the party prepares for future political contests.
