Babatunji Wusu –
The Supreme Court, on Friday validated the election of Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the legitimately elected Governor of Lagos State.
Garba Lawal, the judge who read the supreme court’s main ruling, denied Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s appeal (LP)
He maintained that Obafemi Hamzat, the deputy governor of Lagos, was eligible to run for governor on March 18, 2023.
During the Supreme Court’s Friday session, the ruling in the appeal brought by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s (LP) candidate for governor of Lagos State, was the first to be given.
Rhodes-Vivour had questioned the election outcome of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is presently serving his second term in office and ran for governor on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on March 18, 2023.
In previous rulings, Sanwo-Olu had been declared the winner of the complaint brought against him by Rhodes-Vivour by the Election Tribunal and the Appeal Court.
