President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, as part of his efforts to address the recent wave of violence in the state, particularly the deadly attack in Yelwata community, Guma Local Government Area.

The president touched down at the Nigerian Air Force Base, Makurdi, at exactly 12:58 p.m. on Wednesday, amid tight security and the presence of top state government officials, traditional rulers, and political stakeholders.

Tinubu is expected to proceed to Yelwata for an on-the-spot assessment of the community where scores were reportedly killed in an attack by suspected armed herders.

His visit comes amid growing national outrage over persistent insecurity in the region and calls from the Senate and civil society groups for decisive federal action.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force has increased its deployment of air assets under Operation Whirl Stroke in response to the violence, in a bid to restore peace and order across the affected areas.

Details of the president’s engagements in Benue, including possible meetings with victims’ families and community leaders, are expected to unfold later in the day.

More updates to follow.
