Burna Boy Spotify monthly listeners record has reached a historic milestone after the Nigerian singer became the most-streamed African artist by monthly listeners on Spotify. The achievement places Burna Boy ahead of every African act on the platform and strengthens his position as one of the continent’s biggest global music stars.

The Grammy-winning artist, born Damini Ogulu and widely known as Burna Boy, climbed to 47.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify. He overtook the previous African record of 46.58 million set by South African singer Tyla after earlier reaching 46.84 million listeners.

The rise in streams was driven largely by his collaboration with Colombian singer Shakira on the FIFA Club World Cup song, “Dai Dai.” The track also climbed to the top of Spotify’s Global Top Songs chart.

As a result, Burna Boy became the first African artist to reach number one on the global chart since Wizkid appeared on the summit through his feature on Drake’s 2016 hit, “One Dance.”

Meanwhile, industry observers say the latest figures highlight the growing global influence of African music. Burna Boy is now closing in on another landmark and could become the first African artist to reach 50 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

The Burna Boy Spotify monthly listeners record marks another major achievement in the singer’s international career. It also reflects the increasing worldwide demand for Afrobeats and African artists.
