Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is presently present in Aso Villa.
Hours after President Muhammadu Buhari spoke to Nigerians about the difficulties brought on by the top bank’s naira swap policy, Emefiele met with him in the villa.
President Buhari confirmed on Thursday that he had given his approval for the CBN’s strategy.
President Buhari made a statement early on Thursday, and Emefiele commented on it while claiming to have met with the heads of at least 15 commercial banks.
Recall that only the old N200 note would continue to be legal tender until April 10, 2023, per President Buhari’s approval.
Emefiele met with the bank executives to ensure a plentiful supply of the outdated N200 notes to ease Nigerians’ agony.
The CBN Governor, however, was not with President Buhari and was instead at the State House in Abuja for a different task.
