Tunji Wusu –

Honourable Ekene Adams Abubakar, the newly appointed Chairman of the House of Representatives Sports Committee, has struck the ground running and is slated to meet with key Sports stakeholders in Abuja on Thursday, August 3rd, to chart a new course for Sports.

According to the accomplished administrator and former general manager of Remo Stars, presidents of all 36 Sports Federations, Nigerian Olympics Committee, Premier League Club owners, Nationwide League and other league boards, NFF, Referees, Ex Internationals, Players Union, The National Institute for Sports, former sports ministers, coaches, lottery board, EFCC, ICPC, and corporate organizations will attend the meeting in Abuja.

The Nigerian Olympians Association, the Nigerian Police Force, medical practitioners, the Federal Inland Revenue Service, the Ministries of Youth and Sports, Finance, Budget, and National Planning, the Nigerian School Sports Federation, sports writers, and veterans are also expected to attend.

He promised that the summit would set the tone for a strong, reinvigorated strategic direction for Nigerian sports, as well as seek areas of mutual benefit in the best interests of Nigerian sports.

Honourable Abubakar guaranteed that the era of squabbling, anger, and working at odds was over.

“We should all work together to chart a new course for our sports.” To make our joint dreams a reality, we must collaborate with the executive and all stakeholders. Sports can only prosper when all stakeholders are at peace and concord.

“Because sports unite us as a people, we should use them to promote peace, unity, progress, and development in our great country.” I understand the pains of all stakeholders because I played the game at the greatest level and ran it as a club owner.

“Let us put our bad experiences in the past behind us and look forward to a bright future.”

“We are not doing the youths any favors if we do not prioritize the interests of the country.” “We need to band together to make things work well for everyone,” Adams stated in an interview with LEADERSHIP Sports on Monday in Abuja.

In the statement, the chairman also referred to the Super Falcons as a light of hope for not only Nigeria, but the entire African continent.

While praising the team’s outstanding performance at the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, he warned them not to rest on their laurels until the ultimate prize was secured.

“Congratulations, Falcons; we are extremely proud of you.” We are completely behind you; please do not relax until you reach the finals and, God willing, win the trophy. You have inspired millions of Nigerians, so don’t give up until victory is assured.”
