Chelsea Football Club has confirmed that two of its supporters were attacked in Naples on Tuesday, a day before the club’s UEFA Champions League clash against Napoli, prompting a fresh safety warning to traveling fans.
In a statement published on its official website, the Premier League side said it was aware of an incident involving its supporters and disclosed that the injured fans are currently receiving medical treatment in hospital. Chelsea stressed that the injuries are not life-threatening.
The club urged all supporters in Naples to remain extremely cautious, stay alert, and strictly follow the safety guidance issued ahead of the match scheduled for Wednesday evening.
“The club is aware of an incident that happened on Tuesday in Naples,” the statement read in part, confirming that two fans were hospitalized following the attack.
Chelsea also cautioned against speculation, noting that while social media reports have suggested possible stabbings, the exact cause of the injuries has not been officially confirmed by Napoli authorities.
The incident has reignited concerns over fan safety in Naples, a city with a reputation for hostility toward visiting supporters during high-profile European fixtures.
