China has sharply criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump over his recent comments on the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, accusing him of aggravating an already volatile situation.

On Tuesday, Beijing’s foreign ministry condemned Trump’s warning to Iranian civilians to “immediately evacuate,” calling it reckless and inflammatory. The statement came in the wake of Israel’s surprise aerial strikes on Iranian targets last week an attack Israel claims is aimed at preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons, an ambition Tehran has repeatedly denied.

Speaking at a press briefing, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said:
“Fanning the flames, pouring oil, making threats and mounting pressure will not help to promote the de-escalation of the situation, but will only intensify and widen the conflict.”

Trump’s comments, made via his Truth Social platform, have triggered international concern, particularly as the sudden spike in hostilities threatens to derail ongoing nuclear negotiations between Tehran and world powers. Trump urged Iran to return to the negotiating table, warning of severe consequences if the situation worsens.

In a related move, China’s embassy in Israel has urged its citizens to exit the country urgently, citing the worsening security environment. “The Chinese mission in Israel reminds Chinese nationals to leave the country as soon as possible via land border crossings, on the precondition that they can guarantee their personal safety,” the embassy said in a WeChat advisory. It recommended Jordan as a preferred route of departure.

“The conflict is continuing to escalate,” the statement added, warning of increasing civilian casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.

As tensions rise in the Middle East, China has called on influential nations, especially those with close ties to Israel, to act swiftly in defusing the crisis and preventing a broader regional war.
