Fresh cracks have emerged within the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) following reports that its chairman and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, was removed from the leadership of the forum.

The development has reportedly split the forum into rival factions, deepening tensions among governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Despite the reports, Uzodimma insisted that he remains chairman of the forum.

However, another faction is said to be rallying behind the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, and the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who are reportedly leading a separate bloc within the group.

Sources within the ruling party said disagreements over internal leadership control and strategic political positioning ahead of the next election cycle had fuelled growing tensions within the forum.

The reported division marks one of the most significant internal rifts among APC governors in recent times and comes amid wider political realignments within the party.

Although details surrounding the disagreement remain unclear, party insiders said consultations and power negotiations have intensified in recent weeks as political actors prepare for the 2027 elections.
