Tunji Wusu –
One of President Bola Tinubu’s choices for the position of minister, Dele Alake, has stated that if appointed, he will favor tightening social media restrictions in Nigeria.
Alake, who is from the South West region’s Ekiti State and formerly held the position of Commissioner of Information & Strategy in Lagos State under Tinubu’s governorship from May 1999 to May 2007, responded to inquiries from the Senate on Wednesday during ministerial screening.
Social media’s drawback is that it harms a good and fair society. I would be in favor of tightening rules, Mr. Alake stated. In every aspect of human endeavor, there exist laws that serve as a guide, but their implementation has been halted.
“I will advocate for enforcing those laws and improving our rules. The laws must be put to the test so that we may determine how effective they are.
