The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ramped up its assault on ‘One Chance’ robbers and other criminal syndicates in the nation’s capital.

During a press briefing on December 3, 2024, CP Disu announced the dismantling of six notorious gangs and the seizure of seven vehicles used in their operations.

A decisive breakthrough came on November 23 when Ibrahim Kabiru, a suspected ‘One Chance’ gang member, was apprehended during a routine patrol on Ahmadu Bello Way. A search of his vehicle revealed a Point-of-Sale (POS) machine, a knife, and stolen mobile phones, linking him to theft and fraud. Kabiru remains in custody as investigations unfold.

The Police Command also scored a victory on November 28 by rescuing a pregnant woman, Doris Gabriel, from an ongoing robbery on Idu Industrial Area Road. Officers, acting on a distress call, arrested the suspect, Ikechukwu Ngerem, now in custody.

Simultaneously, the FCT Police intensified traffic enforcement, impounding 296 vehicles for violations such as unauthorized tinted windows and defaced plates, disrupting their potential use in crimes.

CP Disu urged residents to stay vigilant and support law enforcement, especially during the holiday season, as the police scale up efforts to safeguard lives and property under the national crime-fighting agenda spearheaded by Inspector-General Kayode Egbetokun.
