The Federal Capital Territory Police Command on Monday commenced activities for the 2026 National Police Day celebration with a community sanitation exercise and free medical outreach in Area 1, Abuja.

The exercise, led by the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammad, took place in the early hours of the day, drawing participation from police personnel and members of the community.

The sanitation campaign saw officers and residents engage in cleaning major streets and public spaces within the Area 1 district, while the medical outreach provided free health services, including basic consultations and treatments, particularly for vulnerable groups.

According to the Command, the initiative forms part of efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to deepen community relations, promote public health, and contribute to environmental sustainability.

Residents who benefited from the outreach commended the police for what they described as a proactive and people-oriented initiative, noting that the programme not only improved the environment but also made healthcare accessible to many who could not afford it.

The Command, through its spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, reiterated its commitment to strengthening partnerships with the public and advancing people-centred policing.

She noted that the activities lined up for the National Police Day celebration would continue in the coming days, with a focus on enhancing trust, collaboration, and service delivery between the police and the communities they serve.
