The Federal Government has disbursed the second tranche of the N35,000 wage award arrears to federal workers, reaffirming its commitment to clearing the outstanding payments.

The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) announced the payment in a statement on Friday through its spokesperson, Bawa Mokwa, in Abuja.

According to the OAGF, the government had earlier settled one month of the initial five-month arrears. With this latest payment, three tranches remain. The OAGF dismissed speculations that the government had abandoned the arrears, stressing that the wage award would be paid in monthly installments of N35,000 until all outstanding obligations are met.

The development comes amid criticism from the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), which had faulted the staggered payment approach adopted by the government.
