The Federal Government has summoned all domestic airlines to an emergency meeting in Abuja as flight disruptions and unruly passenger behaviour continue to rattle Nigeria’s aviation industry.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) disclosed that the meeting will hold on Wednesday at its headquarters in Abuja. Director of Public Relations and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, confirmed the development in a post on his official X handle on Tuesday.

According to him, the session will address unruly passenger conduct, poor passenger-handling protocols, unresolved refund and compensation claims, and other operational lapses.

The summons comes less than 24 hours after the NCAA announced plans to begin naming and shaming airlines guilty of delays and cancellations. Achimugu had earlier warned that carriers would face sanctions for repeated disruptions.

The aviation regulator’s latest move follows mounting complaints from travellers and heightened public scrutiny of domestic flight operations.
