The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) has pegged $300 as the country’s new official De Minimis threshold, exempting low-value imports, e-commerce parcels, and passenger baggage within that limit from customs duties and taxes.

The decision, reached at the board’s 63rd regular meeting chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, takes effect Monday, September 8, 2025.

Customs clarified that the De Minimis threshold defines the value below which goods are duty-free under Nigerian law. It also issued a stern warning that importers who manipulate invoices or attempt to dodge duty obligations will face penalties.

The announcement comes just days after the Service confirmed a fresh round of promotions for its officers, underscoring an active policy phase at the agency.
