Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has dismissed rising speculation over a possible defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that his political future rests squarely on the will of the people of the state.
Speaking to journalists, the governor said politics is fundamentally about service and representation, stressing that he would not oppose any decision backed by the majority of Adamawa residents.
Fintiri described the defection rumours as distractions driven by what he called “political merchants,” accusing them of stoking tension out of fear and personal interest rather than public good.
He insisted that his administration has earned widespread grassroots support through deliberate investments in development, infrastructure, and human capital across the state, noting that these efforts have strengthened security and social cohesion in Adamawa.
According to the governor, his government’s connection with the people was built organically through tangible projects and inclusive governance, adding that performance, not political noise, would ultimately determine electoral success.
Fintiri reaffirmed that delivering the dividends of democracy remains his central focus, maintaining that his administration’s record positions it strongly for victory, regardless of political alignment.
