Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has clarified the circumstances surrounding his political split with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, declaring that their divergence stems strictly from party alignment and not from personal animosity.
Speaking during a live appearance on Channels Television, Fintiri firmly dismissed claims of a breakdown in communication with Atiku. He stressed that while they now operate from different political platforms, their personal relationship remains intact.
According to the governor, political choices should not be mistaken for hostility, noting that individuals committed to Nigeria’s development must see themselves as collaborators in nation-building, regardless of party lines.
“There is no strained communication with the former Vice President as a result of political differences,” Fintiri said. “I still have; there is nothing that has gone bad. It is just that everybody has taken their political ways. I am today in APC, they are in another party.”
Fintiri further aligned his political position with supporting a southern presidential candidacy, signaling a clear ideological direction ahead of future elections.
The governor’s remarks come amid growing political realignments across the country, particularly among key northern and southern power blocs positioning for upcoming electoral contests. His clarification aims to quell speculation that his departure from Atiku’s political camp was rooted in deeper discord.
Despite shifting allegiances, Fintiri maintained that mutual respect and open lines of communication continue to define his relationship with the former vice president.
