According to Dr. Doyin Okupe, Director-General of the Obi-Datti Campaign Organization, Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), may stop attending debates if other front-runners do not appear.
This was said by Okupe in a press release on Monday in Abuja.
According to the campaign DG, Obi will no longer participate in debates with the other presidential candidates’ running mates or surrogates.
In the event that other presidential contenders fail to appear, he claimed that the LP candidate would be ready to withdraw from any debate, even at the last minute.
Recall that only three of the five invited candidates for president showed up to the Town Hall event held by the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) and Arise Television on Sunday night.
They are respectively Mr. Peter Obi, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and Mr. Kola Abiola, the residential candidates of the Labour Party (LP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
Both the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu failed to appear, while the PDP candidate was represented by his running partner, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
