Four commissioners of police have been sent to Delta on election duty by Inspector-General of Police Mr. Alkali Usman.
The order was stated in a statement released on Friday in Asaba by the police spokesperson for Delta, DSP Bright Edafe.
According to him, the deployment was made to ensure effective law enforcement and sufficient security for the state’s general elections.
According to him, Delta-North would be handled by CP Mamman Sanda, while CP John Babangida will be in charge of the election in Delta.
Edafe added that CP Adebola Hamzat would be in charge of Delta-Central and CP Zachariah Fera would oversee Delta-South.
In order to ensure appropriate protection at polling places, collation facilities, and INEC offices in the state, he declared that the police will cooperate with other security agencies.
He claimed that Sea Police had also been sent out to protect the waterways and guarantee the free flow of voting supplies, officials, and voters.
The officer reiterated the prohibition on vehicular mobility on election day from 12:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Only government employees performing urgent and necessary tasks will be permitted to pass during this time.
“Politicians are urged not to move with their security details on election day,” he stated. “The ban on security escorts for during the poll still stands.”
Observation teams and anti-cult volunteers won’t be permitted to participate in the elections, according to Edafe.
He asked the electorate to follow the law and act in a way that would support a fair and credible election.
In the event of any difficulty or complaints, Edafe asked the people to call the police at the following number: 08036684974, 08125958005 and 09053872287.
