The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State has dismissed claims of internal division, insisting that the party remains united, ideologically focused and firmly under stable leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The position was contained in a communiqué issued on Tuesday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Chief Macdonald Amadi, after a State Executive Committee meeting held in Owerri.

According to the statement, the meeting reviewed the state of the party, reinforced internal cohesion and mapped out strategies aimed at strengthening the ADC’s structure ahead of the next electoral cycle.

The committee said the gathering came amid recent political realignments and used the opportunity to reaffirm the party’s commitment to disciplined and issue-driven politics.

“Any insinuation of fragmentation does not reflect the reality on ground,” the communiqué stated.

The party also announced plans to intensify grassroots mobilisation across all 27 local government areas of the state in a bid to expand its membership base and deepen civic participation.

The committee expressed confidence in the leadership of former Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, and former Deputy Governor, Gerald Irona, describing their influence as critical to maintaining unity within the party.

“Their commitment, experience and stabilising influence have been pivotal in keeping the party united and focused during this period,” the statement added.

The Imo ADC further pledged loyalty to the party’s national leadership under former Senate President, David Mark, saying the state chapter remained aligned with the vision of the National Working Committee.

The party said it was committed to building what it described as a credible political alternative capable of restoring public confidence in governance and delivering inclusive development.

It urged members to remain steadfast, resist distractions and continue working towards what it called a decisive electoral outing in 2027.
