Abdullahi Ganduje, the governor of Kano State, issued a challenge to Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former candidate for president of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, on Monday night to hold a rally in the state to gauge his support.

Ganduje defended the massive turnout of supporters at the event conducted on Sunday in Kano in support of the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, during a live broadcast on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

There is no question that Kwankwaso is a presidential candidate, Ganduje stated in the broadcast that our correspondent was watching. However, we are present and a sizable portion of his people have joined our political party.

So, if Kwankwaso believes he can lead the party to victory, let him organize a march similar to this one (referring to the Kano demonstration) and contrast the results.

Ganduje questioned the political importance of the former governor and minister of education over his switching allegiance, commenting on the prospect that his party might lose support to Sen. Ibrahim Shekarau, another of his predecessors who has since become a political adversary.

We won our election without Shekarau, in terms of Shekarau. We later asked him to our celebration, but he chose to leave to attend Kwankwaso’s instead (NNPP).

Later, he transferred to the Peoples Democratic Party, his original party. Thus, it is clear that these individuals are political nomads. You anticipate that those who switch parties frequently will lose supporters.

“Once you switch political parties, you can’t just take everyone with you. You’ll lose some supporters. He first deserted the majority of his supporters in the APC before moving on to the NNPP. He then left a big crowd behind. We’ll just have to wait and see where he is right now,” he remarked.

The Governor stated on the problems brought up by Alhassan Ado-Doguwa earlier this month that “the problems have since been handled.”

Ado-Doguwa asserted that despite Ganduje’s successful administration of the state, people in charge of the party’s affairs there were treating loyal party members unfairly and pressuring them to leave the organization.

Ganduje, however, asserted that the issues raised by the lawmaker had been addressed and were no longer valid.

Internal disputes within a party are nothing new. The honorable Alhassan Ado-Doguwa misunderstood our former local government commissioner, who is currently a deputy governorship candidate.

“However, we took a seat under my chairmanship, and now everything is in order. Even today, they remained a unit; they even shared a press release and took photos. Therefore, everything in our party is back to normal now, he continued.
