-Policy meeting also sets benchmarks for nursing, polytechnics, and colleges of education
-Stakeholders agree on uniform criteria to streamline tertiary admissions
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2025 academic session.
The announcement was made during the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions, which took place on Tuesday at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.
At the meeting, which was attended by heads of tertiary institutions and other key stakeholders, JAMB also approved 140 as the cut-off mark for colleges of nursing, while 100 was maintained for both polytechnics and colleges of education.
“The minimum admissible scores for admissions for the next academic session have been fixed at 150 for universities, 100 for polytechnics, 100 for colleges of education, and 140 for colleges of nursing sciences by the stakeholders,” the board confirmed via its official X handle.
The cut-off marks serve as the national benchmark for admission into tertiary institutions, although institutions may set higher thresholds based on their internal admission policies.
JAMB’s decision is expected to guide institutions in finalizing their admission requirements, ensuring clarity and uniformity for prospective students nationwide.
More updates on the meeting’s resolutions are expected shortly.
