By Babatunji Wusu| Kuwait has temporarily suspended the issuance of commercial visit visas for all nationalities, including Nigerians, a move expected to disrupt short-term business travel and corporate engagements into the Gulf nation.

The decision affects foreign nationals who typically rely on the Kuwait commercial visa category for professional visits such as business meetings, conferences, seminars, client consultations and contract negotiations. With the suspension now in place, new applications under this visa class will no longer be processed until further notice.

Commercial visit visas are generally issued at the request of registered companies in Kuwait to host foreign business visitors. The permits are usually single-entry visas valid for up to 30 days, making them a common option for short-term professional activities. The latest Kuwait commercial visa restriction is therefore expected to impact businesses and travellers with planned engagements in the country.

According to reports, Kuwaiti authorities have not provided an official explanation for the suspension. They have also not announced a timeline for when the measure may be lifted, stating only that it will remain effective until further notice.

The development has created uncertainty for companies and professionals who depend on the Kuwait commercial visa route for cross-border business activities. Planned corporate visits and business-related travel arrangements may now face delays or cancellations as stakeholders await further clarification from the authorities.

Travellers and organisations have been advised to closely monitor official government announcements and immigration updates regarding the policy change. Industry observers say the suspension could affect a range of sectors that rely on international business cooperation and short-term professional mobility.

Until new directives are issued, prospective visitors seeking entry through the Kuwait commercial visa category will need to explore alternative travel options where applicable and adjust their schedules accordingly.
