The Kwankwasiyya Movement has called for inclusive and forward-looking leadership in Nigeria following the convergence of top political figures at its 10th Sallah Kalankuwa celebration.

In a statement issued on Monday, the spokesperson of the movement, Habibu Sale Mohammed, said the event drew leaders from across the country and different political parties, reflecting a growing commitment to national unity and collective progress.

“What we witnessed goes beyond celebration. The diversity and national spread of participants reflect a shared aspiration for a more inclusive, just, and forward-looking Nigeria,” he said.

Although the gathering was organised as a cultural and entertainment event to mark the Sallah festivities, Mohammed noted that it carried significant political undertones due to the high-profile personalities in attendance.

He added that the presence of such figures elevated the importance of the event, describing it as a platform that fosters dialogue and national cohesion.

The movement highlighted the participation of members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by Najaatu Bala Mohammed, as well as key stakeholders from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), including its national leadership and former vice-presidential candidate, Isaac Idahosa.

According to Mohammed, the gathering underscored the importance of collaboration across party lines, stressing that such engagement is crucial for national development.

“This gathering sends a strong message that constructive engagement and collaboration across political divides are both possible and necessary for national development,” he said.

He further noted that engagements of this nature could play a strategic role in building trust and shaping political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“As we approach the next electoral cycle, platforms like this help build trust, encourage dialogue, and lay the groundwork for strategic alignment in the national interest,” he added.

The movement reaffirmed its commitment to promoting unity and people-centred leadership through inclusive political engagement.

Among notable attendees were the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde; former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi; and former Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, alongside traditional rulers, party leaders, and other stakeholders.
