Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State says mounting pressure from his parents, political supporters, traditional rulers, and associates is influencing his reconsideration of a possible senatorial bid in the 2027 general elections.

Sule made this known on Monday while speaking during an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television, where he explained the circumstances surrounding his evolving political stance.

The governor noted that he had earlier expressed no intention of seeking another political office after his tenure, particularly following his legal victory at the Supreme Court after the last governorship election.

“I made this decision on the day of our judgment at the Supreme Court after I won my election. I meant it then that I have no intention of just jumping to say that I’m going to seek election to the Senate or House of Representatives or any other position,” he said.

However, Sule explained that increasing appeals from his supporters and close associates have created pressure that is difficult to ignore.

“But it looks like when you make this kind of decision, with my kind of experience from the private sector, it gets to a point where the pressure now is coming from your followers,” he added.

According to him, many of his followers have questioned what becomes of their collective political efforts after his exit from office, urging him to remain in active public service.

“My parents, traditional rulers, supporters, people I call my bosses and every other person have mounted pressure on me to run for Senate,” he said.

The governor maintained that while he had initially ruled out contesting for any other office, he is now open to reconsidering his position if the overwhelming demand from the public persists.

“I can reconsider that decision if this is what the people want,” Sule stated.
