Zinedine Zidane was defended by Kylian Mbappé after Nol Le Grat, the head of the French Football Federation, made disparaging remarks about the legendary player on Sunday.

Late on Sunday night, World Cup superstar Mbappé tweeted, “Zidane is France, you don’t disrespect a legend like that.”

Zidane, a former playmaker, is regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the game. In 1998, he helped Les Bleus win their first World Cup, and in 2000, they won the European Championship. Like Mbappé, he scored twice in World Cup finals and once on the losing team.

Le Grat, who recently extended Didier Deschamps’ contract with France to July 2026, was a guest on the talk show on RMC radio on Sunday. He was questioned regarding speculation that Zidane would succeed Tite as coach of Brazil.

“If he went there, I’d be surprised. But I don’t care; he is free to do as he pleases. Le Grat stated to RMC, “I’ve never met with him (Zidane), and we (the FFF) never considered parting ways with Didier. “Would the fact that (Zidane) went there bother me? I don’t give a damn. He is free to join any team, big or small, national or otherwise. Did Zidane try to get in touch with me? Without a doubt, I wouldn’t have even answered the phone.

Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, France’s minister of sports, who reportedly has a tense relationship with Le Grat, went further than Mbappé, whose tweet did not specifically mention Le Grat. She requested Le Grat to make amends to Zidane. She even addressed him as president with an inverted comma.

Oudéa-Castéra posted on Twitter, “A shameful lack of respect, which hurts us all, toward a legend of our sport.” “A “president” of France’s top sporting organization shouldn’t say that. Please accept my apologies for being too harsh on Zidane.

Le Grat has been accused of sexual harassment, and Oudéa-Castéra has commissioned an investigation into the FFF.
