According to the Labour party, it has sent out over 600,000 polling unit scouts across the nation to keep an eye out for irregularities in the election process and notify the leadership.
The scouts are to specifically warn of any vote-buying in preparation for Saturday’s swift, law enforcement-supported opposition by the Nigerian people.
According to optimism derived from an examination of party supporters’ readiness across the nation, the Labour Party’s chief mobilizer, Wale Okunniyi, told Nigerians on the 2023 Verdict show on Channels TV that this would give the party a victory in the election on the first ballot.
The 674,370 scouts in addition to the same number of canvassers who would assist each polling place’s lone agent.
The number of Labour Party supporters at each voting location is 11. These individuals will act as the front force to defend the LP votes on Saturday.
He said that with the deployment of 11 party supporters to each polling location across the nation, the party had completed its logistical planning for the election on Saturday.
He claims that each polling unit area has five canvassers and five scouts in addition to the official party representative that it has registered with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The five scouts, according to him, have a clear mandate to watch out for any actions or activities that do not comply with the voting procedure at the polling place and notify the party leader.
He insisted that the coalition of laborers supporting the Labour Party in Nigeria will vote for the Labour Party’s nominee and thwart any attempts to sabotage the election.
When you are well-liked and the Nigerian people are vigilant, vote buying itself will be dealt with, in my opinion. With our popularity, the Nigerian people won’t let you do it voluntarily; they will fight you every step of the way.
But, the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), which consists of the security forces, has promised us that it won’t happen and that they’ll make sure it doesn’t.
“Be aware that it is challenging to purchase a vote when you are well-liked in a voting unit. Even if they accept your payment, they won’t vote for you, and if you try to force them, they will oppose you.
The truth is that they are even more astute because I know that no matter where they take your money, they would still refuse to vote for you because they have had enough hardship at the hands of the APC for the past eight years, he said.
