Tricycle rider Ali Bulama, 35, of Jumbam village, Tarmuwa Local Government Area, Yobe State, received N100,000 as payment for giving back the full amount of N9,000,000 (nine million naira) to the owner.
at a media interview, Bulama stated that the money’s owner, a Maiduguri resident, got on his bicycle at Jumbam at around nine-thirty on November 17.
The tricycle driver claimed that after finding the money, he immediately used some locals’ assistance to look for the owner.
Bulama claimed that the money’s owner offered him N20,000 as a token of gratitude.
After dropping him off and returning home, he stated, “I noticed a sack containing some items left in my tricycle around 11:30 or so.”
“I hurried outside to look for the owner as soon as I realized the sack held some cash. The village had already heard about the lost N9 million by that point.
“After some time, the money’s owner was located with the assistance of some locals, and I gave the money to him.”
The tricycle operator was given a certificate of honor and N100,000 in cash by Maisandari Lawan, the Chairman of the Yobe Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries, who praised him for his honesty, according to Daily Trust.
