Hon. Gbenga Edema, a former representative of Ondo State on the Niger Delta Development Commission’s (NDDC) disbanded governing board, has announced his intention to succeed Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as governor in 2024.
Edema, who asserted that he is still the greatest candidate to carry on the governor’s legacy, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, revealed that his intended administration would change the school curriculum to better fit the needs of the time.
The former chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), in an interview with journalists in Akure, the state capital, stated that he was motivated to help the people by the urgent need to offer more practical solutions to raise the living standards of the populace.
He claimed, “I have created socioeconomic plans to revive the state’s economy.”
The former member of the state House of Assembly pledged to create a supportive environment and implement effective strategies to attract investors into the state’s socioeconomic initiatives, which would significantly place the state on the proper pedestal, while stressing that the provision of necessary infrastructure and education would be a catalyst for the development of the state.
He said, “I know that I’ve told him (Akeredolu) that I want to run, and he hasn’t objected. We have previously shared all of these legacies, hence I believe I am the most qualified individual to forward Akeredolu’s legacy.
