The Federal Government of Nigeria and the State of Kuwait have successfully signed a Bilateral Air Service (BASA) agreement with the purpose of promoting enhanced connectivity and economic cooperation.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, presided over the signing ceremony, which was held during the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) summit in Riyadh.

Keyamo praised the deal and emphasized its importance in enhancing relations between the two countries, hailing it as evidence of Nigeria’s dedication to international collaboration in the aviation industry.

The minister highlighted the potential of the pact to improve connectivity and boost economic cooperation between Nigeria and Kuwait, characterizing it as a significant milestone in their bilateral ties.

In a statement, Tunde Moshood, the Minister’s Special Advisor on Media and Communications, expressed Keyamo’s confidence over the future of the recently signed deal.

He emphasized how it may promote people-to-people contacts, trade, and tourism, ultimately aiding in the economic development of both countries.

Keyamo emphasized the government’s steadfast dedication to expanding Nigeria’s aviation footprint internationally and creating avenues for economic growth.

The bilateral air service agreement is evidence of Nigeria’s proactive efforts to advance its aviation and aerospace capabilities to new heights through collaboration with foreign partners.

Noting that this agreement with Kuwait reflects Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to expanding its global aviation footprint and solidifying its position in the international aviation landscape, the minister emphasized the government’s dedication to forging strong relationships with nations worldwide.

“The agreement highlights the Federal Government’s commitment to growing the country’s worldwide aviation footprint and generating opportunities for economic growth,” the statement said.

“This noteworthy development occurs as Nigeria actively pursues the advancement of its aviation and aerospace capabilities with international partners.”
