For the last week of December 2022, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 35 new cases of COVID-19.
According to its website, 22 of the cases were recorded in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), ten in Lagos State, two in Delta, and one in Plateau.
The infections occurred between December 24 and December 30, 2022. The new cases bring the country’s total infection to 266,450 and 3,155 deaths since the pandemic’s outbreak in 2019.
According to the disease center, 3,451 people are currently infected with the virus, with 259,841 people treated and discharged across the country. It urged Nigerians to disinfect frequently touched surfaces on a regular basis in order to prevent the spread of the virus and other infectious diseases.
The NCDC emphasized that vaccines are still one of the most effective tools for combating the disease, while also encouraging Nigerians to get vaccinated.
