The Nigeria Women’s Football League has fined Ibom Angels ₦2.5 million and imposed further sanctions following crowd violence and assaults on Bayelsa Queens players and officials.

In a statement, the league said Ibom Angels supporters unlawfully invaded the pitch at the end of Wednesday’s match at the Uyo Township Stadium, physically attacking Bayelsa Queens players and officials.

The NWFL described the incident as a grave breach of its regulations and a direct threat to fair play and player safety. It imposed a ₦1.5 million fine for assault, intimidation and offensive conduct, alongside an additional ₦1 million for bringing the game into disrepute and failing to provide adequate matchday security.

Beyond the financial penalties, the league ordered Ibom Angels to play their next three home fixtures behind closed doors. The affected matches are against Ekiti Queens, Edo Queens and Naija Ratels.

The NWFL warned that any failure to comply with the sanctions—or a repeat of similar incidents—will attract stiffer penalties.
