Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has written a note of condolence to Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), following the death of his mother, Chief Mrs. Eunice Olaperi Folasade Adesina.
Obasanjo expressed regret over the death of Chief Mrs Adesina in a condolence letter he personally signed, noting that she lived a life of lessons, hard work, and dedication to her family, the Church of Christ, and her community in the fields of education and commerce.
The late Mrs Adesina, according to the former President, was a mother in a million, and the proof of her motherhood is well reflected in her children and daughters-in-law.
“It is with regret that I received the passing to the glory of Mama, Chief Mrs Eunice Olaperi Folasade Adesina, on December 22, 2022, at the age of 92,” Obasanjo wrote. Please accept my and my family’s heartfelt sorrow and prayers as you deal with the inevitability of her absence.
“Losing a mother is never an easy thing to go through. You should be comforted, though, because she lived a life of lessons, hard work, and dedication to her family, the Church of Christ, and her community in education and business. But doing so with everything Mama had accomplished in her life with her husband and your father, Chief Roland Folorunso Adesina, of happy memory, is a proof of God’s favor doubled.
“Mama was a mother in a million, and the proof of her motherhood is beautifully mirrored in her children and daughters-in-law. I can speak to the fact that her children, particularly you, are men of strong character and significant accomplishments in their different fields. Those of you she left behind should be consoled, even as you remember her life. Remember that we will all walk this route at some point. We must be ready for how we will be remembered.
“May God grant you and other members of your family the strength and fortitude to bear her passage and may her lovely spirit rest in perfect peace with the Lord”.
