Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has alleged that some artistes use voodoo to secure hit songs in the music industry. He made the claim during an appearance on the Tea With Tay podcast, where he discussed the challenges of producing commercially successful music.
The rapper, whose real name is Tochukwu Ojogwu, said getting a hit song was difficult. He added that some artistes never achieve a major hit throughout their careers.
According to him, the pressure to produce successful songs sometimes drives artistes to seek spiritual help.
“Getting a hit song is not easy. Sometimes people even do jazz to get one. That is why you see some artists crashing out when they struggle to get a hit,” he said.
Odumodublvck also praised Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido for their ability to release hit songs consistently over several years.
He said their achievements deserved recognition because many musicians struggle to produce songs that gain widespread popularity.
“You have to respect that. Some artistes never get a hit song throughout their careers,” he added. The rapper’s comments have drawn attention to the challenges artistes face in Nigeria’s competitive music industry.
However, he did not identify any musician who allegedly uses voodoo to secure commercial success.
The Nigerian music industry has produced several internationally recognised artistes, including Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido. Their music has attracted audiences across Africa and beyond.
Odumodublvck has also built a following with his distinctive rap style and collaborations with other Nigerian musicians.
His remarks have renewed conversations about the pressure to produce hit songs and the different beliefs surrounding success in the entertainment industry.
