Socio-political commentator and social activist, Adetoun Onajobi, popularly known as Just Adetoun, has issued a forceful public statement challenging Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and calling for urgent dialogue and accountability in the governance of the state.
In the statement shared via social media, Onajobi insisted that Ogun State belongs to its people and must be protected from actions capable of undermining its progress. She stressed that the state should not be “ruined,” but rebuilt through collective effort, responsible leadership, and people-oriented governance.
Dismissing what she described as political bravado and displays of power, Onajobi argued that intimidation and theatrics cannot substitute for effective leadership. According to her, genuine development can only be achieved through constructive engagement, transparent problem-solving, and sincere commitment to public welfare.
She challenged Governor Abiodun to come to the negotiation table to openly address the state’s pressing challenges, noting that once tangible solutions are implemented, citizens would reciprocate with support and goodwill. Her remarks ended with a strong declaration of readiness, signalling determination to confront political challenges head-on.
Onajobi’s latest comments come against the backdrop of a growing national controversy following her viral videos criticising the Ogun State Government over alleged neglect of public infrastructure and weak emergency response systems. The debate intensified after a fatal road accident on December 27, 2025, along a major highway in Ogun State, which claimed the lives of two associates of world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua.
In several widely circulated videos, Onajobi alleged that the deaths were avoidable, blaming the absence of functional ambulances and an effective emergency medical response. She accused the state government of failing accident victims at a critical moment when prompt intervention could have saved lives.
In one particularly viral video, she claimed that Ogun State does not have a single functional ambulance and alleged that victims were left without professional medical assistance. She also criticised what she described as misplaced priorities by the state government, alleging that while President Bola Tinubu reportedly reached out to Anthony Joshua and his family, Governor Abiodun was said to be outside the country at the time of the incident.
Onajobi further accused the government of prioritising social events and luxury spending over critical needs such as emergency healthcare, citing the reported purchase of about 20 SUVs for local government chairmen as evidence of what she described as misplaced priorities.
Her statements have continued to generate intense reactions online, with supporters viewing her intervention as a bold call for accountability and inclusive governance, while critics question her tone and methods. Nonetheless, the controversy has renewed public scrutiny of emergency preparedness and governance priorities in Ogun State.
