Operation HADIN KAI troops have arrested a suspected foreign terrorist fighter, an alleged illegal immigrant, and six suspected terrorist logistics suppliers during separate intelligence-led operations in Borno State. The military said the operations form part of its sustained campaign to disrupt terrorist networks and cut off their supply chains across the North-East.
In a statement issued in Maiduguri, Acting Media Information Officer Captain Mohammed Goni said troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion, Sector 4, arrested Musa Fashir, a 32-year-old Sudanese national, on 19 July 2026 in Lassa, Dille General Area of Askira/Uba Local Government Area. According to the military, preliminary intelligence indicates that the suspect is a foreign terrorist fighter with links to terrorist elements operating in the region.
The troops also apprehended Mary Florence, aged 36, who claimed to be an illegal immigrant from Ghana. Captain Goni said both suspects remain in military custody while investigators verify her identity and examine any possible connections to terrorist or criminal groups.
In another operation, Operation HADIN KAI troops from Sector 1 intercepted six suspected terrorist logistics suppliers travelling in five vehicles along a route believed to be used to transport supplies to terrorist groups.
Security operatives recovered 202 cartons of herbicides, one jerrycan of suspected acid, a Starlink wireless internet communication system, six bags of NPK fertiliser, 10 bags of rice, 50 hoes, and 20 packs of knapsack sprayer pumps. The military said the NPK fertiliser and suspected acid would undergo forensic examination to determine whether they could be used in the production of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The suspects and all recovered items have been handed over to the appropriate Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation aimed at uncovering other members of the alleged logistics network and identifying its sponsors.
Captain Goni said ongoing operations have continued to weaken terrorist groups by disrupting access to food, communication equipment, medical supplies, and other essential resources. He also reaffirmed the military’s commitment to pursuing terrorists, financiers, logistics suppliers, informants, and collaborators across the region.
The military appealed to residents to continue providing credible intelligence, stressing that public cooperation remains critical to improving security and restoring lasting peace in the North-East.
