The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) state leadership reportedly decided to halt the ongoing employee verification process for the state of Osun’s civil servants on Thursday due to an apparent dispute with the consultants in charge of the program.

The exercise was halted, according to sources close to the union, since state employees were allegedly humiliated and subordinated.

The sources, who wished to remain anonymous, told our reporter that it was critical to figure out how to improve the exercise and that as a result, a meeting would be called to lay out the specifics of the development.

The personnel from the ministries of health and justice who were scheduled to participate in the exercise on Thursday were unable to do so because they claimed that the consultants’ team had molested them despite their provision of all relevant information.

Additionally, our investigator learned that the consultant walked out on the workers after some of his demands, such as the availability of security people, were not met.

The insider told our reporter that the screening crew ran into several of the medical professionals whose answers to their questions were unsatisfactory or uncertain.

According to him, age and advanced qualifications gained by employees who continued their education while working are some of the factors that lead to conflicts. The certificates, however, were allegedly rejected by the screening committee despite having previously been presented and accepted.

According to reports, this led to a confrontation between the government servants and the screening crew, which is why the union leadership decided to postpone the exercise till further notice.

Comrade Lasun Akindele, Chairman of the Negotiating Council for Labour, said, “The consultant arrived late. She arrived about 1pm and asserted that the government had not yet complied with the agreements’ conditions. She said that no security logistics had been given. When we went to the HoS and PS Human Resources, her needs were instantly accepted. We delivered the 30-seat bus she requested, four security guards, and fuel for the generator.

“But she insisted that security should spend the night and all day at their apartment. The PS then responded that they were not aware of that. She gave her soldiers the command to leave the hall in that manner.

Because some of our members had been coming since Monday and some since Tuesday, they became irate. They chanted songs of rejection, accused the labor leaders of being compromised, and threw sachet waters at us. We were unable to stop them since they were tired of her personality.
Trade Union Congress (TUC) claimed that the screening team had disrespected the workers, and Mr. Adebowale echoed that claim.

“Our leaders should communicate with her so that she will treat our people with respect. The stage is being held by you. You can’t just trash us since we are the instructors, accountants, and judges. She needs to hear from our boss if she wants to return to the table. We cannot defy the rules. We shall return there, he declared.

Comrade (Dr) Chrisptopher Arapasogo, state chairman of the Nigerian Civil Service, said in his own statement, “It is a regular annual practice that has to do with employee audits. The consultant asked for various facilities, which were then brought to her, but she afterwards grumbled that security was what she really wanted.

“People claim that there are procedures, but she has never been interested in hearing about them. She then instructed her boys to cease working, despite our efforts to convince her otherwise. We suggested that they decentralize the exercise so that it would be simpler for our folks to go from different locations to participate in it. She abruptly stopped working, and our people stated they had to return home.

A committee is in charge of it. He promised, “We will turn to the committee and see how we can fix it.
